Adventures in a Backwards America

You find yourself in a bizarre, post-apocalyptic America, where decaying structures and dwindling once-great family lines resemble a crumbling and corrupt nation on its last leg. Meanwhile, monsters emerge from dust-covered legends, and the vast American landscape threatens to swallow civilization whole.

For Reading & For Playing. Although this book is written for playing, it is also written for your reading pleasure. Rules and guidance for the Backwards system is non-intrusive, and the adventures can be adapted easily for other games.

Backwoods Adventures:
Something Rotten

This collection includes two full scenarios, "Bad Apple" and "I Smell a Rat," along with two one-shot adventures: "The Night Shift" and "By Land & By Sea & By Sky." All stories are set in and around the American northeast, the Heartlands Ward of the Backwards Universe.

Bad Apple by Matt Joro. A roadside encounter in a small western Massachusetts village forces the investigators to seek shelter in an abandoned cider mill.

I Smell a Rat by Asa Donald. A rich mill owner and their collection of Old World artifacts disappears. Years later, investigators are given the opportunity to explore parts of the mill that have been hitherto examined.
